On Wednesday, swashbuckling South African batter Heinrich Klaasen had a memorable outing in The Hundred 2023, slamming a belligerent fifty and helping Oval Invincibles clinch an emphatic win over Manchester Originals. Although Jason Roy slammed a half-century, Klaasen's knock grabbed more eyeballs owing to its destruction level. 

Batting first, the Invincibles were off to a flier, courtesy of a quick-fire cameo from opener Will Jacks. However, after he got out, their decision to promote Klaasen to up the order proved to be a masterstroke for the Invincibles, as he took the Originals' bowlers to the cleaners. 

The dynamic keeper-batter came out with all guns blazing and struck two fours and six monstrous sixes on his way through to a blistering 27-ball 60. His power-packed innings was pivotal in propelling the hosts to a mammoth 186 in 100 balls.

In response, Manchester Originals lost wickets at regular intervals, being eventually bundled out for a paltry 92 in 89 balls. Besides skipper Jos Buttler, Jamie Overton and Ashton Turner were their only batters to breach the two-digit mark. Spencer Johnson and Sunil Narine emerged as the standout performers with the ball for Oval, scalping three wickets each. 

With the comprehensive victory, Oval Invincibles moved to the top of The Hundred 2023 points table. They will cross swords against Northern Superchargers in their fourth group-stage fixture at Headingley tomorrow.
