In an audacious display of smart hitting, Harry Brook took on Tim Southee in the 14th match of The Hundred. Brook appeared in sublime touch and pulled off a reverse scoop shot out of nowhere to stun the bowler, crowd, and fans across the world.
The incident happened in the 14th match of The Hundred 2025 between Northern Superchargers and Birmingham Phoenix.
Batting first, the Supercharges had a terrific start with David Malan and Zak Crawley hitting 58 and 45 runs, respectively. However, they still needed a strong finish, and Harry Brook came to the rescue.
Harry Brook Tumbles But Hits A Clean Dilscoop
Coming out to bat at no.4, Harry Brook had only one job, to hit as many runs as possible through quick boundaries. On the 74th ball, Brook produced a jaw-dropping moment of brilliance against Tim Southee with a stroke that left everyone stunned.
Southee delivered a slower ball on a good length outside off, expecting a cautious response. Brook initially shaped for a reverse hit, crouching low in his stance.
But in a split second, he altered his plan, batting impulsively with a scoop above the wicketkeeper's head. What made the shot even more outrageous was the sheer timing and power, as the ball sailed all the way for six. Brook lost his balance and tumbled after execution, but the crowd roared at the spectacle.

The scoop shot was made popular by former Sri Lankan cricketer Dilshan in the mid-2000s. While such shots are not uncommon, Brook’s audacity against a quality bowler like Southee surely raised a few eyebrows.
That being said, after Harry Brook’s blitz, Superchargers finished with a total of 193 runs. In the chase, Birmingham flattered and fell short by 36 runs to hand a big win to Northern Superchargers.
