New Zealand is taking on England in the second Test of the three match series at the Basin Reserve in Wellington, New Zealand. This match is an important one for both teams. While England will be lookling to maintain their momentum from the first match and seal the series with a win here, the Kiwis will be looking to keep it alive till the final game.

The home team won the toss for the match and put England to bat first. The Kiwi bowlers responded to the call of the skipper and had England on the mat with some quick early wickets. England were struggling at 43/4, when Harry Brook and Ollie Pope got together.

Harry Brook Changes The Complexion Of The Match With His Aggressive Batting

The pressure was on the two batters, but Harry Brook paced the innings in his own flamboyant style. He did not look fazed by the wickets that had fallen and put New Zealand on the back foot with his counter aggressive batting. 

A shot by Harry Brook against Matt Henry deserves a special mention. The shot showed Brook's dexterity as a batter and the confidence he is carrying in the innings. On the second delivery of the 30th over, Henry bowled a short ball at the middle and leg stump line. Brook put his weight on the back foot and pulled it away over square leg for a maximum. It was a dismissive shot by Brook and was much appreciated by the spectators present on the field.

The young English batter has maintained a strike rate of over 100 during his stay in the middle. This aggressive approach must have relieved the Delhi Capitals owners. The Capitals bought Brook during the IPL 2025 auction for a price of INR 6.25 Cr. The form that Brook is carrying at present will satisfy the owners of the IPL franchise about the investment they have made.
