The Durban's Super Giants and the Pretoria Capitals faced off in the second match of the SA20 2025. The match took place at the Kingsmead in Durban.
The Super Giants won the toss for the game and opted to bat first. They got a brilliant start as their openers blazed off in the initial overs. However, the Capitals made a comeback, with Senuram Muthusamy picking up three wickets and rocking the Super Giants.
When the Capitals tightened their grip on the game, Wiaan Mulder and Kane Williamson delivered the counter punch. Due to the contributions of the two players, the Super Giants were able to cross the 200 mark and post a mammoth total of 209 runs at the end of their 20 overs.
It promised to be a challenging chase, but the openers of the Capitals made it look like a small total. Rahmanullah Gurbaz was particularly sever on the DSG bowlers sending them to all parts of the ground. He played an impactful knock of 89 runs from 43 deliveries and tilted the game entirely in his team's favour.
Noor Ahmad Sends Gurbaz Back To The Hut
However, in the 13th over, Afghan spinner Noor Ahmad picked up his wicket and prevented him from getting to a well-deserved Hundred. On the first ball of the over, Noor bowled a full delivery outside the off stump. Gurbaz got down on one knee and tried to clear the long-on fence with a big bowl.
The batter managed to get the connection from the edge of the bat, and as a result, the ball travelled the height but not the distance. It went to Heinrich Klaasen, who was fielding in the deep. The South African made a good catch near the ropes by maintaining his balance, which ended Gurbaz's knock. The batter, however, stood in disbelief and could not accept that he had been caught at the fence.
