Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell had a forgettable start to his IPL 2025 season as he was dismissed for a golden duck in the fifth match of the tournament at the Narendra Modi Stadium on March 25.

Glenn Maxwell Fails Again In IPL 

Maxwell came to the crease after Punjab Kings’ captain Shreyas Iyer, following Sai Kishore’s dismissal of Azmatullah Omarzai for 16 runs. However, on the very first ball he faced, Maxwell attempted a reverse sweep but completely missed the ball, getting trapped in front of the stumps. The umpire had no hesitation in giving him out, sending him back without scoring.

The dismissal happened in the 11th over when Sai Kishore struck again, claiming his second wicket of the innings. It was a poor shot selection from Maxwell, as he failed to connect with the delivery, which pitched close to the off-stump and skidded onto his pads.

Earlier in the match, Gujarat Titans (GT) chose to bowl first and quickly removed Prabhsimran Singh for just 5 runs. Young batter Priyansh Arya then stabilized the innings with a solid 47-run knock before falling to Rashid Khan.

Meanwhile, at the time of writing, Punjab Kings were at 126 for 4 in 13.3 overs, with Shreyas Iyer and Marcus Stoinis at the crease.
