Gujarat Titans (GT) have had a golden opportunity to strike early in their IPL 2025 opener against Punjab Kings (PBKS) at the Narendra Modi Stadium on March 25. However, a misjudged catch by Arshad Khan and Rashid Khan cost them a crucial breakthrough.
Gujarat Titans Miss A Golden Chance
After winning the toss, Gujarat Titans chose to bowl first, hoping to put Punjab Kings under pressure. In just the second over, Kagiso Rabada delivered a well-placed ball outside off stump. Punjab’s Priyansh Arya swung hard, mistiming his shot, and the ball soared high into the air.
It should have been an easy catch, but things took a chaotic turn. Arshad Khan, positioned at mid-off, moved backward to take the catch. At the same time, Rashid Khan, coming from mid-on, entered his field of vision.
The momentary distraction led to confusion, causing Arshad to lose sight of the ball. He attempted a last-minute dive, but it was too late; the ball slipped past him, and a golden chance was wasted.
The mix-up left Rashid Khan visibly frustrated. It was a fielding blunder that reminded fans of some comical errors from the past, similar to Pakistan’s famous miscommunication on the field. With Arya getting a lifeline, Punjab Kings got an early advantage.
