The first T20I between Zimbabwe and Afghanistan turned out to be a historic one as Zimbabwe registered their second T20I win over Afghanistan. It was quite a thrilling win with the home team getting over the line on the final ball of the game.
Afghanistan batted first and posted 144 on the board. Karim Janat and Mohammad Nabi were the leading run-scorers for the visitors while Richard Ngarava picked three wickets. In reply, Brian Bennett with run-a-ball 49 while Dion Myers scored 32 off 29 balls. However, Afghanistan too kept getting wickets at regular intervals, and it came down to Zimbabwe needing 11 off the final over.

Tashinga Musekiwa was the batter on strike and he smashed the first ball for a boundary. The next two balls fetched four runs, but the fourth ball was a dot. Zimbabwe needed three of the last two balls and Musekiwa kept his cool with a single on the final ball and took his side over the line.
The atmosphere at the Harare Sports Club was absolutely electric as they were cheering for every single ball and once the home team got over the line, party started all around the ground. Azmatullah Omarzai, the bowler tried everything he could but the boundary of the first ball proved costly and the home team took 1-0 lead in the three-match T20I series.
The second match of the series will be played on Friday, 13th of December at the same ground known for its passionate support to the home team.
