Fakhar Zaman made his long awaited comeback in the first ODI of the tri-series against New Zealand and he displayed straightaway, the kind of impact he can make. The left-handed batter came out all guns blazing in the run-chase of 331 and smashed New Zealand bowlers all over the park in the first powerplay.

He lost his partners on the way, but Fakhar did not shy away from playing his shots and looked set for a big hundred in a high-pressure game. However, his blazing knock was cut short by none other than Glenn Phillips, the man who scored a century in the first half and then backed it up with a stunning catch of Babar Azam.

Phillips Continues To Haunt Pakistan In Lahore

It was the fourth delivery of the 24th over and Glenn Phillips bowled it on a length and the ball came in with an angle into the left-hander. He tried to defend it, but missed it completely and as the ball hit his pad, the Kiwi players went up in appeal. The umpire obliged and raised his finger.

However,  Fakhar Zaman out of his frustration took the DRS, but it did not change his luck as the Ball Tracking displayed three reds. Pakistan were reduced to 119-4 in the 24th over and his wicket just after Rizwan's pegged the home team back drastically.

Earlier, New Zealand won the toss and decided to bat first. They lost two early wickets, but Daryl Mitchell scored 81 and then Glenn Phillips punished Pakistan pacers to leave Pakistan with a mountain to climb. They are in trouble now, and someone in the middle order would have to show lot of skills and application to take them over the line.
