The Women's Ashes are currently underway with Australia Women and England Women busy battling it out in the first ODI of the multi-format series at the famous North Sydney Oval. The highly anticipated game began on a brilliant note for the Aussie team as they Ellyse Perry's sharp catch helped Ashleigh Gardner bag her first wicket of the innings.

Captain Heather Knight, who was looking in good rhythm, was dismissed for 39 runs after hitting five eye-glazing boundaries. This wicket came at a good moment for the Aussies and was a much-needed breakthrough for the home-team. 

Ellyse Perry's Super-Woman Catch

In the first delivery of the 20th over, Gardner bowled an over the wicket, full length delivery that was slightly wider that the off-side. Knight attempted to drag the sweep however unseemingly top-edged it to the deep mid-wicket region.

Ellyse Perry ran in and dived forward to take an excellent catch. A poor selection of shot and big mistiming resulted in the wicket of the English skipper. The Aussie Women all came together in excitement to celebrate the big wicket.


Ashleigh Gardner Claims 100th WODI Wicket

Australia Women bowled exceptionally to restrict England Women to 204 runs in their chase of 205. Ashleigh Gardner starred with the ball, taking 3 wickets and marking a significant milestone by claiming her 100th WODI wicket. 

England's batting struggled, with Maia Bouchier dismissed early, and Tammy Beaumont, Heather Knight, and Natalie Sciver-Brunt failing to capitalize. Despite a fighting 38 from Danielle Wyatt-Hodge and a brief cameo from Amy Jones (31), England collapsed from 95/4 to 204 all out. Kim Garth, Annabel Sutherland, and Alana King each took two wickets, supporting Gardner's match-winning performance.

At the time of writing, Australia Women are cruising through the chase however have lost some of their crucial players too. They are at 125/4.
