Sri Lanka managed to put up a respectable total of 279 runs in the 38th match of the 2023 World Cup, thanks to an impressive century by Charith Asalanka. Bangladesh, however, staged a comeback in the death overs, with Tanzim Hasan Sakib taking three crucial wickets to restrict their opponents.

The momentum continued in favor of Sri Lanka as their talented pacer, Dilshan Madushanka, delivered a remarkable breakthrough for his team in the very early stages of the match. In the third over, Tanzid Hasan, the Bangladeshi opener, fell victim to Madushanka's brilliance, marking the first wicket for Sri Lanka.

The 23-year-old's performance in the ICC World Cup 2023 has been consistently outstanding, particularly in the first powerplay. Once again, he demonstrated his prowess with the new ball by sending Hasan back to the pavilion.

Madushanka bowled an enticing away swinger outside off, luring Hasan into attempting a lofted shot over the inner circle on the off side. However, Hasan could only manage to connect with the toe end of his bat, leading to a simple catch for Pathum Nissanka at cover point.

As of the time of writing, Bangladesh had reached a score of 23 for 1 in just four overs.
