Warner's shot stuns Jordan [Source: @bbl/x.com]
David Warner is one of the biggest entertainer in cricket and he plays the game with a zeal to win the contest. He loves to entertain the crowd and it was evident during the Big Bash League (BBL) 2024-25 finale between his side, Sydney Thunder and Hobart Hurricanes. The Thunder skipper gave a flying start to his side and stunned the opposition with his fearless batting.
Warner, alongside fellow opener, Jason Sangha, were off to a flying start as they took apart the Hurricanes attack with utmost ease. The wicket was good for batting and the opening duo added 97 runs for the opening wicket. In their 97-run stand, there were several fantastic shots played, but none better than the shot which tormented Englishman, Chris Jordan.
The incident occurred when David Warner was on song and Jordan was in the attack. The Hurricanes bowler delivered a slower full-toss and the Thunder skipper was ready for the task as he switched his stance and slapped it over the point fielder for a boundary.
Chris Jordan, who had delivered a perfect slower-ball, couldn't believe how Warner pulled off an outrageous shot and put his hands on his head in disbelief.
Thunder post 182/7 in finals
Hobart Hurricanes came back in style as they restricted Thunder to just 182/7. At one stage, it looked as if the Warner led side will cross the 200-rum mark easily, but some tight bowling, along with some reckless batting led to the comeback of the Hurricanes.
While the top order delivered the goods, the middle order couldn't do much as the Sydney side posted a decent total on the board in the finals.
