[Watch] Controversy Around Yashasvi Jaiswal Wicket As Umpire's Shocker Raises Eyebrows

Yashasvi Jaiswal continued to make a name for himself with his significant knock, however, he missed on a well-deserved century on the fifth day of the ongoing Boxing Day Test against Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. 

Jaiswal India's lone warrior helped India recover from a critical position after the early dismissals of Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, and Virat Kohli. 

Despite a forgettable mix-up in the first innings that led to his unfortunate dismissal, Jaiswal displayed remarkable composure to regroup and play a crucial knock when his team needed the most. The 23-year-old adapted his game to the conditions and the situation, showcasing a maturity beyond his years.

However, Jaiswal's inning was cut short by Pat Cummins. The delivery from Australian captain  was banged short into the wicket around the leg stump line, and Jaiswal, attempting to pull it away, missed the ball. 

The Australian players, convinced that there had been a slight nick off the bat, appealed clearly. The on-field umpire was unmoved, and the appeal was rejected. Yet, Cummins, immediately took the review without hesitation. 

As the review unfolded, the tension grew even higher. The UltraEdge showed a faint spike, just as the ball was next to the bat, leaving viewers in suspense. 

However, there was no clear spike, and the snicko was inconclusive. The TV umpire, initially seemed unsure, but after carefully analyzing the front-on replays he instructed on-field umpire to overturn the decision. 

Jaiswal, visibly stunned, stood in disbelief as the message came through. The young opener, exchanged few words with the umpires before making the long walk back to the pavilion.

It would not be wrong to say that, after Jaiswal's wicket, India now has no hope left. At the time of writing, India is at 154/8, with Washington Sundar and Bumrah at the crease.
