[Watch] Classical Pat Cummins Caught & Bowled Ends Abdullah Shafique's Courageous Stay

Pat Cummins' old-ball burst proved to be the game-changer for Australia on Day 2 of the Boxing Day Test against Pakistan as the spearhead broke past a resilient second-wicket partnership between Abdullah Shafique and skipper Shan Masood.

The Australian captain produced a valiant caught and bowled dismissal to send a stoic Shafique back when he was batting well set on 62 not out amid a terrific stand with Masood, which had taken Pakistan to an encouraging 124/1 in response to Australia's 318 all-out on a challenging surface at MCG.

Just when the Pakistani hopes would've risen of potentially overhauling the Aussies and taking a step towards historically equalising the series at MCG, Cummins crushed their spirits with a fantastic spell that began with the wicket of Shafique.

Pat Cummins Outfoxes Abdullah Shafique

The great right-arm seamer outfoxed Shafique with a surprised slower delivery, which gripped ever so slightly on the MCG turf and thwarted the right-hander's front-foot drive. The ball flew in the air only briefly after hitting the upper half of the willow but enough for Cummins to adjust and take an excellent catch off his own bowling.

Fast bowlers are usually known for being fantastic fielders when they are bowling. But Cummins seems to be raising the bar with each such caught and bowled dismissal as it remains a breathtaking experience to see him react so quickly and keep low despite releasing the ball well above the 6-foot height.

On this occasion, Cummins had to also deal with an awkward angle and height on the catching opportunity. However, the Aussie skipper was up to it with a tremendous attempt which resulted in the prized scalp of Shafique just when he was setting his eyes for a long haul at the crease.

The wicket would've been personally very satisfying for the captain since he once again broke open the innings for Australia after Pakistan had threatened to put the hosts under pressure for the first time in the Test series.
