Nathan Lyon switched the devastation mode on once again at the sight of a left-hander in the opposition camp and turned one past Pakistan opener Imam Ul Haq on Day 2 of the Boxing Day Test at the MCG on Wednesday (December 27).

The great off-spinner continued his brutal run against the lefties and dismissed the Pakistani batter on a defensive push as he drew the batter forward and then extracted the outside edge towards the second slip.

Lyon managed to draw first blood into the opposition camp after Australia had to wait till the 16th over of the innings for their first breakthrough amidst a resilient opening stand between Imam and his partner Abdullah Shafique.

The renowned offie brought curtains to the partnership with another beautiful off-spinner which dipped and turned against the left-hander and took the outer splice of his willow before landing comfortably in the hands of second slip Marnus Labuschagne.

Lyon Gets Imam To Provide Aussies First Breakthrough

Imam would've been bitter disappointed with himself to have once again gutsed it out against the fiery Australian pace battery but failing to kick on and play a substantial knock.

However, the left-hander could console himself since it was an unplayable delivery from Lyon, who forced him to commit to the angle coming in from around the wicket and then turned the ball sharply away from him.

The delivered aimed in line of the off-stump forced Imam to commit to the defensive prod before he was outfoxed by how late it dipped and turned to fetch the outside edge towards slips.

Lyon was delighted as he once again provided Australia a much-needed breather after Pakistan had defied the home team's new-ball attack to reach 34 without a loss in response to the hosts' imposing 318 on a challenging surface.
