Babar Azam, the No. 1-ranked ODI batsman in the world, was not sure about coming to bat on Tuesday during Pakistan’s World Cup warm-up match against Australia in Hyderabad. However, after watching the Men in Green lose four wickets early, the Pakistan captain decided to come to bat.

Babar did not let down the spectators at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. He raced to 70 runs off just 43 deliveries and played aggressively to stage a counterattack. Among all of his incredible hits, the one he struck against Steve Smith received the most attention.

It was the second ball of the 25th over of Pakistan’s innings, bowled by Smith, which was pitched at short length outside the off stump. Babar stepped back and slammed it towards deep cover with perfection before the ball went on to touch the boundary ropes.

Chasing 352, Pakistan, at the time of writing, are 227/5 after 31.4 overs. Iftikhar Ahmed has just lost his wicket after a valiant 85-ball 83, laced with six fours and four sixes. Babar, on the other hand, is still going strong, batting on 79 off 47 balls with the help of 10 fours and two sixes.
