The Gulf Giants and the Desert Vipers faced off in the fifth match of the ILT20 2025. It turned out to be a rather one-sided affair as the Desert Viper won the competition by six wickets with 14 balls remaining in the game.

The Vipers won the toss in the game and opted to field first. Their bowlers did a brilliant job as they did not allow the batters of the Gulf Giants to get off the blocks at any stage in the innings. The brilliant effort by the Vipers' bowlers meant that the Giants were restricted to just 119/9 at the end of 20 overs.

The Vipers lost a few early wickets in the chase, but Sam Curran and Sherfane Rutherford ensured the team got home without many off slip-ups. In the end, the Vipers chased down the target, losing only four wickets and 14 balls remaining in the game.

Azam Khan Takes Fans Through Contrasting Emotions

Although the result went in favour of the Vipers, Azam Khan's batting saw them go through contrasting emotions. The Pakistani wicketkeeper-batter came in as an impact player for the Vipers at number five.

Azam Khan started his innings with a brilliant flick shot of the pads for a boundary through the mid-wicket region. The shit oozed class and spoke of Azam's calibre. It was such a delight to watch that a fan was seen celebrating with a unique dance in the stands.

The joy of Azam Khan fans, however, did not last long. Soon, Khan fell trying to play a rash shot and top-edging a good length ball by Tymal Mills. His innings that promised a lot was cut short at eight runs off seven deliveries. After the dismissal of Azam Khan, a Vipers fan was seen particularly frustrated, holding his head in the stands in exasperation.
