[Watch] Ashwin Becomes ‘England’s Nemesis’ Again; Draws First Blood By Trapping Ben Duckett

Ravichandran Ashwin produced an impeccable performance when England toured India under the leadership of Joe Root on their previous visit. There have been a lot of talks around how things would unfold this time around, as Bazball has taken the world by storm.

However, Ashwin delivered what Ashwin delivers. And Ben Duckett was the man who was at the receiving end of becoming the veteran spinner’s 491’s victim in red-ball cricket.

Opting to bat first, Ben Stokes' England got off to an ideal start, courtesy of a blistering batting by Zak Crawley and Duckett. Rohit Sharma introduced Ashwin after a few overs' wait, and the off-spinner made his impact immediately in his second over of the day in Hyderabad.

Duckett, the left-hander, was batting on 35*, and Ashwin bowled towards the stumps to let him confused. The Englishman went for a defensive push, expecting a turn, but it went straight and hit his pad.

Right after the LBW appeal, on-field umpire Chris Gaffaney raised his finger, bringing joy to Indian fans. Duckett went for a DRS, but the umpire’s call while the ball hitting the stumps did not save him to remain at the crease.

As of writing, England have lost their second wicket as well, with Ollie Pope departing after a paltry one. The visitors are batting on 60/2 after 15 overs.
