With Jasprit Bumrah out of the Indian Premier League 2023 season, the Mumbai Indians needed someone to step up in his place, and Akash Madhwal has done just that.

In a season where the Mumbai Indians have leaked plenty of runs, Madhwal has been the standout bowler for them. The right-arm seamer showed his worth once again in the ongoing IPL match against the Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Put into bat, the Sunrisers were off to a flying start, courtesy Mayank Agarwal and Vivrant Sharma. Despite the openers being back in the hut, SRH had a strong middle order and they were well on the course to breach the 200-run mark. However, in the penultimate over, Madhwal produced two stunning deliveries and knocked over the stumps of Heinrich Klaasen and Harry Brook to derail SRH's train.

In the 19th over, the dangerous Klaasen was at the crease and he had the responsibility to steer SRH past the 200-run score. The first four deliveries of the Madhwal over yielded only six runs, and the pressure was increasing on Klaasen. In the next delivery, Madhwal bowled an inch-perfect yorker as Klaasen got beaten on the inside-edge and the stumps were castled.

Madhwal bettered the previous delivery and bamboozled Harry Brook with a ripping yorker as the ball went underneath his bat and rattled the middle stump. MI skipper Rohit Sharma was in shock, and so was Brook as Madhwal had produced two magical deliveries in succession.

Thanks to his brilliant slog over bowling, MI were able to restrict SRH to 200 for 5 on the board.
