Vivrant Sharma, the Jammu boy playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2023 finally stepped up on a big stage against MI at the Wankhede Stadium with a swashbuckling fifty at the top of the order. He played three games in this season before this game but did not get to bat. However, he is originally a top order batter and when he got an opportunity in this game against MI, he grabbed it with both hands.
He started off on a cautious note and then upped the ante to score a fifty in 36 balls. Mayank Agarwal, at the other end, is also batting well and at the time of writing, SRH are 111-0 in 12 overs. Vivrant Sharma is the third youngest SRH batter to score an IPL fifty and is batting on 61 off 42 balls while Mayank Agarwal is on 42 off 30 balls.
This is SRH’s highest opening stand this season, and it is their seventh new opening pair in IPL 2023, which shows the kind of instability they have faced this season.Talking about MI, all their bowlers have been expensive so far, and they need to chase down the total set by SRH in 12.1 overs to go past RCB on net run-rate to qualify for the playoffs.
Things are looking tough for MI now and they need to find a way to take quick wickets to restrict SRH to as low a total as possible.
