Mitchell Marsh came into the first T20I against the Windies with a Covid-positive health status and did not come out for a toss despite being a captain. West Indies won the toss and elected to bowl first as Australia started off with a bang. The first wicket fell on 93 and Mitchell Marsh walked out with clear license to get going. However, Marsh did not look in his elements and departed for 16 as Pooran behind the stumps took a fine one-handed catch.

It was the first delivery of the 13th over and Alzarri Joseph bowled it short and outside off. Mitchell Marsh tried to cut it but the ball caught the outside edge of his blade, flying right to Nicholas Pooran behind the stumps.

Nicholas Pooran though did not make much fuss of it and popped out his hand to take a brilliant catch which he with his casual approach made it look quite easy.

Australian fireworks though continued after the wicket of Marsh and Aussies ended up scoring 213 in the first innings with Warner scoring 70 off 36 balls. Tim David played a brilliant cameo in the end, which propelled the score and Australia are looking quite a dangerous unit going into the T20 World Cup 2024.
