The Barbados Royals and the Guyana Amazon Warriors are facing each other in the 16th match of the CPL 2024. This match is being played at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados.

The Warriors won the toss for the game and opted to field first. The two openers of the Royals, Quinton de Kock and Kadeem Alleyne, got them off to a good start. The duo notched up 24 runs in the first two overs and provided great momentum initially.

Well, if we look deeper, we will see that the prime aggressor in the partnership was the young West Indian batter Kadeem Alleyne. He was looking in a mood to thrash the Warriors' bowlers from ball one. He finished off Dwaine Pretorius's first over with a maximum and a four and then did the same in the next over.

Moeen Ali, who has been drafted into the Guyana Amazon Warriors as a replacement for Saim Ayub, is playing his first match of CPL 2024. The acting captain of the Warriors, Shai Hope, handed him over the bowling responsibilities for the second over.

Moeen bowled the first four balls of the over for just a single. However, in the last balls of the over, Kadeem Alleyne got the better of the experienced English all-rounder. Alleyne slogged the fifth ball of the over for a maximum over mid-wicket. On the next delivery, the batter spotted a good length delivery early and picked it up towards square leg for a boundary. It was not the kind of start Moeen Ali would have dreamt of for his CPL journey.

At the time of writing, Quinton de Kock has completed his half century. The Royals are stationed at 94/1 in 10 overs.
