Recovering from some early setbacks, Rajat Patidar’s Madhya Pradesh counter-attacked the opponent. In the 12th over, Venkatesh Iyer and Rajat Patidar stole the spotlight with their ruthless hitting against Shardul Thakur.

Iyer-Patidar Go Wild Against Shardul

The M. Chinnaswamy Stadium is witnessing the thrilling SMAT 2024 final. While counter-attacking the opponent bowlers, Venkatesh Iyer and Rajat Patidar hit 16 runs in Shardul Thakur’s over.

Shardul Thakur stepped up to bowl in the 12th over and Patidar was on strike. In Shadul’s back-off-length delivery outside the off stump, the batter smashed that ball over the mid-off and ended up being a boundary. Just one ball later, Venkatesh Iyer joined the party, launching a huge six.

In the fifth delivery, Shardul bowled a short delivery. With no mistake, Patidar unleashed a stunning boundary over the backward point. The duo made the over forgetful for Shardul.

Commendable Bounce Back By Madhya Pradesh

While bowling first, Mumbai gave a dominating start. After losing the first two wickets within the first 2 overs, Madhya Pradesh was under pressure. Shardul Thakur was thriving on the pitch after sending off both the openers. Subhranshu Senapati walked away after scoring 23 runs.

Amidst troubles, captain Rajat Patidar continued to lead the team from the front. In the 16th over, he completed a crucial half-century only in 28 balls. He remained unbeaten till the end scoring 81 runs in just 40 deliveries with 6 boundaries and 6 over-boundaries. Mumbai need to score 175 runs to name the prestigious trophy.
