Peter Siddle, 40 years old, is still making an impact in the Big Bash League! Playing for Melbourne Stars in the opening match of the 2024 season against Perth Scorchers on December 15 at the Perth Stadium, he showed that age is just a number by picking up wickets.

This is Siddle's 10th season in the BBL. Melbourne Stars posted a total of 147 runs, with Tom Curran and Marcus Stoinis both contributing 37 runs each. Jhye Richardson impressed with three wickets off 19 balls.

In the second over of Perth Scorchers' chase, Siddle struck. He bowled a back-of-a-length delivery wide outside off, and Scorchers' opener Keaton Jennings tried to cut but got a top edge. Sam Harper, behind the stumps, took a simple catch, sending Jennings back for just 4 runs off 5 balls.

Across his nine Big Bash League seasons, The 40-year-old seamer has played 83 matches, taking 99 wickets at an economy rate of 7.57 and playing his 10th season, he made sure to provide his best.

At the time of writing, Ashton Turner's Scorchers need 83 runs from 72 balls, with Cooper Connolly and Ashton Turner at the crease.
