The Delhi Capitals and the Mumbai Indians are facing off against each other in the 43rd match of the IPL 2024. Mumbai Indians won the toss and decided to field first in the game. The Capitals have dropped Prithvi Shaw for this game and used Abhishekh Porel as the new opener with Jake Fraser-McGurk. 

If there were some doubts about the new opening pair working for DC, Jake Fraser-McGurk cleared them. Luke Wood, the English left-arm pacer, who is playing in this game in place of the South African speedster, Gerald Coetzee, started the proceedings for Mumbai Indians. The 22-year-old Australian batter welcomed English pacer to cricketing action in style. 

Fraser-McGurk tears down Luke Wood

McGurk played a beautiful flick to a fullish delivery at the middle and leg stump by Luke Wood towards the mid-wicket region for a boundary to get off the mark. He followed this up with another boundary and maxium of the next two deliveries. Ultimately at the end of the over McGurk had collected 19 runs off it and gave the Capitals a blazing start. 

Before this match, Fraser-McGurk had scored 163 runs in four innings at a strike rate of 211.69. He has already caught the eyes of the cricketing fraternity with his ruthless mentality and impressive technique. 

On the other hand, this is just the second game for Wood. In his previous outing, Wood conceded 25 runs off his two overs while playing in MI's first game in the tournament. He was benched afther that and it would have been disheartening for him to be treated like this on his return.
