Why Is Prithvi Shaw Not Playing DC's IPL 2024 Clash vs MI?

In a significant development, Delhi Capitals have dropped Prithvi Shaw from their playing XI for the 43rd group-stage IPL 2024 match against Mumbai Indians on home soil. 

At toss, Delhi Capitals skipper Rishabh Pant revealed that they had made one change, bringing Kumar Kushagra for Shaw. 


Why is Prithvi Shaw not playing? 

At toss, DC captain Pant informed about Shaw's non-participation in the high-voltage clash against Mumbai Indians. 

As the explosive southpaw didn't provide any injury update, it's believed that Shaw has been dropped owing to his inconsistency with the bat in the tournament. 

Statistically, Shaw has scored 185 runs, including a fifty, at a modest average of 26.43. More importantly, the dynamic right-handed batter hasn't done anything significant after his last IPL fifty, which he coincidentally hit against MI earlier in the competition. 

After being dismissed for a single-digit score against Gujarat Titans, Shaw managed only 27 runs in his subsequent two outings. 

On the other hand, Kumar Kushagra is a promising talent, who was purchased for a whopping price of INR 7.2 crores in the IPL 2024 mini auction last year. 

So, considering his potential, the Capitals expect Kushagra to make an instant impact and cement his place in the star-studded side.
