India's explosive batter Sanju Samson got a dream start to his innings in his side's ongoing T20I match against Bangladesh at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. Opening the batting alongside Abhishek Sharma, Samson helped India get off to a flier, playing a breezy cameo in the powerplay.
Samson, who hasn't had a great series so far, took a particular liking for ace Bangladesh speedster Taskin Ahmed, hammering him for four consecutive boundaries in a single over. The incident occurred during the second over of India's innings after captain Suryakumar Yadav won the toss and opted to bat.
As Bangladesh skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto brought Taskin into the attack, Samson latched onto him, smashing him for four back-to-back boundaries. After starting his over with two dot balls, Taskin bowled a slower delivery, which Samson struck through the covers for a gorgeous boundary.
He followed it up with two magnificent boundaries through the cover and square leg before dispatching the final ball to the fence with a worth-watching flick shot. Samson's fireworks ensured a positive start for India, helping them dominate the visitors in the dead-rubber.
Suryakumar, Samson Hammer Bangladesh After Abhishek's Departure
Meanwhile, Samson's opening partner Abhishek Sharma sustained his poor run, managing only four runs in the match. The swashbuckling southpaw once again fell prey to Tanzim Hasan Sakib's extra pace, hitting the ball straight to Mahedi Hasan, who has replaced Mehidy Hasan Miraz in this match.
After his departure, skipper Suryakumar Yadav joined Samson in the middle, with the duo stabilising the hosts' innings with a counterattacking stand. At the time of writing, India were 63 for one in just 5.1 overs, with Samson and Suryakumar batting on 36* and 17*, respectively.
