Indian stalwart, Virat Kohli added another glittering achievement to his already illustrious career. During the World Cup 2023 clash against Australia in Chennai's Chepauk Stadium on Sunday, Kohli outdid former Indian cricketer Anil Kumble to etch his name atop the leaderboard as the Indian non-wicketkeeper with the most catches in World Cup tournaments.

Even before the first ball was bowled, the buzz was evident as both Kohli and Kumble were neck-to-neck with 14 catches each. But for the passionate and ever-evolving Kohli, it was just another day to push boundaries. And push he did, leaving spectators in awe with a breathtaking catch.

Clearly emphasizing fielding's paramount importance, Kohli, with his signature intensity, had earlier been seen sharpening his catching skills during the team's warm-up sessions.

The relentless drills soon paid dividends when in a dramatic turn of events in the third over bowled by India's speedster Jasprit Bumrah, Kohli displayed sheer brilliance at the first slip, sending back Mitchell Marsh to the pavillion without troubling the scorers.

Meanwhile,  Australia's decision to bat first upon winning the toss initially seemed questionable with the early loss. However, as the first 10 overs progressed, seasoned campaigners David Warner and Steve Smith took charge, anchoring their innings with the scoreboard reading 73/1.

The IND vs AUS game, balanced on a knife-edge, promises high-octane action, with both teams looking to stamp their authority. While Warner and Smith's experience will be Australia's hope, the Indian camp will be buoyed by Kohli's golden touch on the field, hoping they build on this moment of sheer brilliance.
