Mitchell Starc showcased his respect and adulation for Indian spearhead Jasprit Bumrah with a heartening gesture prior to the much-anticipated India versus Australia ICC World Cup 2023 clash in Chennai on Sunday (October 8).

The Australian left-arm speedster, who has always held Bumrah in high regards for his greatness at the international stage, was seen making a warming gesture to the cricketer before the two countries' mega encounter at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.

As the players from India and Australia interacted during the extended pre-match training session at the ground, Starc gave Bumrah a pat on the back and wished him well for the high-pressure bout watched by cricket lovers from around the globe.

The Aussie quick made a good-luck gesture towards his Indian team counterpart as the two leading fast-bowlers were gearing up for the mouthwatering clash that opened up the World Cup 2023 campaign for both India and Australia.

Starc's Heartening Gesture For Bumrah Ahead Of Chennai Classic

The glimpse of the two cricketers engaging in a conversation before they parted ways with Starc giving Bumrah a pat on the back was seen on Star Sports, the host broadcasters for the ICC World Cup.

The moment would've warmed the hearts of cricket fans as Starc kept the on-field rivalry aside and retained the great sportsperson's spirit in wishing Bumrah well before the game.

Starc holds great importance to Australia's cause at this edition of the World Cup as they approach the tournament in India with the intention of bringing home the ultimate crown for the sixth time in their cricket history.

Just as Bumrah will be the ace in the sleeves for Rohit Sharma's men in their quest to regain the sport's biggest title after 12 long years of wait since winning the 2011 edition of the competition in home conditions.

Bumrah started the tournament on a positive note, picking up the crucial wicket of Mitchell Marsh for a duck.
