What happened with Sophie Ecclestone?
On Sunday, when England face New Zealand, Sophie made a stunning effort at the boundary to stop a four on the second ball of the match. However, the left-arm spinner landed awkwardly on her shoulder, which left her in deep discomfort.
Sophie also left the field, but returned to action a few overs later. She also came to bowl and picked up a crucial wicket, but soon left with immense pain in her shoulder, which forced her to leave the field and not return afterwards.
ECB provides a massive update on Ecclestone's injury
Now, England are sweating hard as Ecclestone continues to be a key player, and her absence will cause great trouble for England. However, in the latest events, the Three Lions can breathe a sigh of relief as the ECB has provided a massive update on Ecclestone's injury.
The ECB remarked that Sophie has a minor injury to the joint next to her collarbone, and there is nothing serious as feared earlier. Further, there are high chances that the 26-year-old will feature against South Africa on Wednesday.
"Results of an MRI scan on Sophie Ecclestone's left shoulder indicate a minor injury to the joint next to her collarbone. She will continue to be assessed ahead of Wednesday's ICC Women's World Cup semi-final against South Africa," said the England and Wales Cricket Board spokesperson.
How has Ecclestone done in the Women's World Cup 2025?
