UP Warriorz captain Alyssa Healy has hailed her team's stunning victory over Royal Challengers Bangalore in the WPL 2023, commending her side's execution of the spin-to-win strategy on a good batting wicket.

In a display of remarkable dominance, the UPW skipper led from the front with an imperious 96 runs off just 47 deliveries, coming close to becoming the first player to score a hundred in the tournament's history.

Speaking in the post-match presentation as quoted by ESPNCricinfo, Healy extolled the efforts of her bowlers, who put on a spectacular performance, limiting RCB to a mere 138 runs.

The skipper emphasised that it was an occasion of spin to win, and her spinners bowled in partnership, keeping the RCB batters on the back foot. She stated that all her bowlers executed their plans brilliantly to put their team in the driving seat.

"I was really pleased with the bowlers. Before the game, I thought if we could keep them to under 200, it would be great. To keep a batting unit like that to a score under 140 was phenomenal. It was spin to win tonight. It is still a good batting wicket but our spinners bowled well in partnerships. Anjali held her nerve too. Our bowlers executed really well tonight."

The Aussie opener was effusive in praising Devika Vaidya, who demonstrated her class at the top of the order during the chase.

However, she expressed her surprise at Vaidya's batting position during the recent series against India, suggesting that she should have batted higher up the order.

"At the time-out, we discussed about not dragging it out until the final over. Sometimes it comes off, sometimes it doesn't. Today it did and I am really happy about that."

The swashbuckling batter noted that her team set the tone early on, getting off to a tremendous start, and was keen to keep their foot on the accelerator to not drag the game out until the final over.

This, in turn, led to a comfortable victory, with Healy delighted at her team's successful execution of their game plan.
