Pakistan set to face Ireland [AP]

The final Group A clash in the T20 World Cup 2024 sees Pakistan taking on Ireland at the Central Broward Regional Park on June 16.

Pakistan, captained by Babar Azam, has already been eliminated from the tournament following a disappointing campaign. The USA secured a spot in the Super 8 alongside India, leaving Pakistan and Ireland out of contention. 

Ireland, led by Paul Stirling, has also failed to secure a victory in this edition and have been knocked out.

Pakistan 

The Men in Green started their tournament on a poor note. In Group A, they faced USA in their first match and suffered a humiliating defeat, losing in a Super Over. Subsequently, they were defeated by India too. Their only victory came against Canada, where Mohammad Rizwan showcased resilience with unbeaten score of 53. Skipper Babar Azam regained form against Canada too, while Mohammad Amir has been consistent, claiming five wickets in three innings.

Ireland

Ireland, under Paul Stirling's leadership, is the only team in Group A without a win. They will be eager to register their first win and end the tournament on a high note. Their last match against the USA was washed out. 

George Dockrell has been a standout performer, while Craig Young and Barry McCarthy have led the bowling attack effectively.

The first game of the World Cup in Lauderhill between the USA and Ireland was washed out due to a wet outfield. Despite no rain for three hours during the game, officials had to call it off. Fans can expect similar conditions with a possible wet outfield and toss delay.
