WI Vs PNG: Team Previews
West Indies
The West Indies can stun every heavyweight in the competition. They have powerful batters, economical bowlers, and multi-dimensional all-rounders, everything a champion side requires. However, the only area where they lack is consistency, and if they work on that, don’t be surprised if they increase their T20 World Cup-winners tally from two to three.
Of course, to turn it into reality, the likes of Andre Russell, Nicholas Pooran, Shai Hope, and skipper Rovman Powell must show characters on the field on every matchday this year. To assist them, Romario Shepherd, Akeal Hosein, and Alzarri Joseph also have to step up.
Papua New Guinea
Papua New Guinea comes into this World Cup with zero expectations, as they are placed 20th in the latest ICC T20I rankings. Their head coach Tatenda Taibu was an IPL player once, but he even knows his team is here to gain some experience by going up against some of the brutal forces of the game and taking the lessons for the future.
Among many names, keep an eye out for Tony Ura and Charles Amini. While Ura is the only PNG batsman who has smashed a century in T20Is, Amini, the leg-spinner, could wreak havoc in Caribbean conditions if he is in the mood.

WI Vs PNG: Providence Stadium Guyana Pitch Report
The pitches at Providence Stadium are balanced ones, making it ideal for a perfect T20I match, unlike the recent trend where batters dominate bowlers like monsters. Both fast bowlers and spinners can be influential on this surface, although the slowness of the track could tempt the spinners to do more damage.
