The 35th match of the ongoing T20 World Cup saw India edge past Bangladesh by five runs (DLS) in Adelaide. The Men in Blue progressed to the top of the points table with this astounding victory.

Rahul-Kohli brilliance propels India to a massive total

After being put into bat, India got off to a poor start, losing skipper Rohit Sharma for two in the fourth over. However, KL Rahul and Virat Kohli steadied the ship, adding 67 runs for the second wicket. Rahul finally got his mojo, hammering a fabulous 32-ball 50 before being dismissed by Hasan Mahmud in the tenth over.

After that, the dynamic duo of Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav added further 38 runs before Shakib Al Hasan castled the latter for 30 runs. Surya's dismissal triggered a mini-collapse, as India lost Hardik Pandya, Dinesh Karthik and Axar Patel cheaply.

But Ravichandran Ashwin's vital 13-run cameo ensured a fitting finish for India, as they raced to 184 in 20 overs. Kohli remained unbeaten for a gorgeous 44-ball 64 with the help of eight fours and one six.

Although Hasan Mahmud scalped three wickets, he went for 47 runs in his four overs.

Litton Das' fifty goes in vain as India have the last laugh

Contrary to expectations, Bangladesh began their chase emphatically, courtesy of a breathtaking knock from Litton Das.

The stylish keeper-batter neutralised the Indian bowlers with his flamboyant stroke play, hammering 60 runs off 27 balls with seven fours and three sixes. His onslaught powered Bangladesh to 66 in just seven overs before rain intervened in the match.

Bangladesh were given a revised target of 151 in 16 overs. After the game resumed, India struck back, as KL Rahul hit the bull's eye to get rid of Litton Das. The Men in Blue further tightened their grip on the game by quickly removing Najmul Hossain, Shakib Al Hasan and Afif Hossain.

Hardik Pandya dismissed Yasir Ali and Mosaddek Hossain in his second over to push the Tigers on the verge of defeat. Although Nurul Hasan played a quick-fire 25*-run cameo, Arshdeep Singh delivered an exceptional final over, restricting Bangladesh to 145.
