It is the virtual semi-final in the Super 4 stage of the Asia Cup 2023, with Sri Lanka and Pakistan going head-to-head against each other, with the winner all but confirmed to play the final.

The match is set to take place at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on 14th September, where teams have ideally won batting first so far, as chasing has been a nightmare.

Both Sri Lanka and Pakistan played their previous game versus India and had to taste defeat as the latter proved to be better on a few occasions. The Lankans have been playing well until now, and apart from that India game, there are no blemishes as they won everything.

Batting has clicked on their days, but more or less, it is bowling that have won them games in this tournament. Dunith Wellalage turned out to be the hero for the side in the last match but, unfortunately, couldn't help his team cross the line.

Also, with their 13-match ODI winning streak now over, surely they would be having higher targets in their mind this time around.

Pakistan, on the other hand, were given a beating by India as they lost by a mammoth total of 228 runs and not just this, a plethora of injuries followed their way, with Naseem Shah getting ruled out of the tournament while Haris Rauf recovering after feeling pain in his oblique muscle.

More than their bowling, the focus will be on batting, as that is something that has let them down on many occasions, especially in the last game.

What is the venue of the PAK vs SL Asia Cup 2023 match?

R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo will host the game where the previous three games were held, resulting in the team batting first getting two points. Chasing has been a difficult task here, with spin playing a significant role in all three of them.

Weather-wise, expect a few showers with a game likely to be shortened one, and if, in case, there is no result, the Lankans will go through by virtue of a higher Net Run Rate (NRR).

Pakistan playing XI vs Sri Lanka

Like what has been the case so far, Pakistan have already announced their playing XI with as many as five changes. Some forced, others performance-wise, but in the hope to only better their line-up. Zaman Khan has found a place replacing Naseem Shah, Mohammad Wasim Jr in place of Haris Rauf, Saud Shakeel instead of the injured Salman Agha, Mohammad Nawaz replacing Faheem Ashraf and finally, Mohammad Haris in place of opener Fakhar Zaman.

Pakistan Playing XI:

Mohammad Haris, Imam-ul-Haq, Babar Azam (c), Mohammad Rizwan (wk), Saud Shakeel, Iftikhar Ahmed, Shadab Khan, Mohammad Nawaz, Shaheen Afridi, Mohammad Wasim Jr. and Zaman Khan.

Sri Lanka probable playing XI vs Pakistan

With a close contest against India, there is hardly going to be any change to their line-up except if there's a forced injury.

Sri Lanka Playing XI:

Pathum Nissanka, Dimuth Karunaratne, Kusal Mendis (wk), Sadeera Samarawickrama, Charith Asalanka, Dhananjaya de Silva, Dasun Shanaka (c), Dunith Wellalage, Maheesh Theekshana, Kasun Rajitha and Matheesha Pathirana.

Pakistan vs Sri Lanka: Winner Prediction

The match could fall in anyone's favour given the conditions, however, given the record between these two sides, Pakistan are likely to dominate the contest.
