Despite the Mumbai Indians (MI) being out of the race for the IPL 2024 playoffs, there is exciting news for MI fans as their star batter, Suryakumar Yadav, is all set to play his 150th IPL match today.
This milestone will be celebrated in front of the home crowd at the iconic Wankhede Stadium against the Lucknow Super Giants.
Suryakumar Yadav, fondly known as SKY, has been a monumental figure in the IPL. Over the years, he has showcased remarkable consistency and stellar performances, leaving an indelible mark on the league.
Suryakumar's journey so far
SKY made his IPL debut for Mumbai Indians against Pune Warriors in April 2012. Although he had a rough start, playing just one match that season without scoring, his journey since then has been extraordinary.
Initially, with MI from 2011 to 2013, Yadav played only one match in those three years. In 2014, he moved to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), where he played 54 matches over four years, making a name for himself as a dependable player. His tenure with KKR established him as a well-known figure in the IPL.
In 2018, SKY returned to the Mumbai Indians and has since been a crucial part of the team. From 2018 to now, he has played 94 matches for MI, bringing his total IPL appearances to 149. In these 149 matches, the 33-year-old right-hand batter has scored 3,594 runs at a strike rate of 145.21, including two centuries and 24 half-centuries.
