India A produced a stunning performance in Match 8 of the ACC Men’s Emerging Asia Cup 2023 as they trounced Nepal by nine wickets on Monday at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. With the victory, they have qualified for the semi-finals of the tournament.

This win follows their win against UAE in the first game, placing them at the top of Group B's table, boasting four points from consecutive victories.

India A topped Group B with a stellar win

The Indian team confidently chased down Nepal's modest target of 168 runs, with openers Sai Sudarshan and Abhishek Sharma providing a rapid start. Sharma took on the role of the primary aggressor while Sudarshan provided valuable support. Their partnership saw them score 76 runs in the first 10 overs, laying a solid foundation for the chase.

The duo's onslaught continued, adding another 63 runs in the subsequent nine overs. Sharma's impressive innings ended at 87 runs off 69 balls when Rohit Paudel claimed his wicket. His knock was peppered with 12 fours and two sixes.

Following Sharma's departure, Jurel joined Sudarshan, who had just notched his half-century. As in the IPL 2023, Jurel excelled in wrapping up the innings. His explosive 21 off 12 balls included one boundary and two sixes, the final one ensuring India's smooth victory in a mere 22.1 overs.

Earlier in the match, India's robust bowling attack brought Nepal to their knees, with their score languishing at 37/5 in 10 overs. Nepal staged a mild recovery thanks to a 53-run stand between Paudel and Sompal Kami.

Kami's dismissal at 14 was followed by another substantial 54-run partnership between Paudel and Gulsan Jha. The Nepal skipper was the top-scorer for his side, managing 65 off 85 balls before his dismissal.

Despite these efforts, Nepal's batting line-up crumbled to 167 all out. Nishant Sindhu emerged as the pick of the bowler for India, claiming four scalps, while Rajvardhan Hangargekar, Harshit Rana, and Manav Suthar contributed with three, two, and one wickets, respectively.
