There is no stopping Shubman Gill at the moment. The Gujarat Titans opener slammed his third century of the IPL season, and became only the third player after Virat Kohli and Jos Buttler to have three or more centuries in a single season.

Earlier in the day, Gill went past Faf du Plessis' run-tally and became the leading run-scorer in IPL 2023.

Having being put to bat, Gill started on a brisk note. It was Wriddhiman Saha who was the aggressor early in the innings as Gill weathered the early storm. But once the dust settled in, the GT opener went berserk and started taking on the MI bowlers.

In the process, he went past Faf du Plessis to become the leading run-scorer in IPL 2023, and has also crossed the 800-run mark in the ongoing edition.

He did got a lifeline, courtesy of Tim David, who missed a diving catch. It was just the lifeline Gill needed as he made them pay with one of the finest display of stroke-making this season.

Being a brilliant player of spin bowling, Gill utilised his power-game and took on MI’s best bowler - Piyush Chawla. The 23-year-old didn’t allow Chawla to settle in as the leg-spinner went for 45 in just 3 overs.

The moment finally arrived in the 15th over when he flicked Cameron Green for a single on the leg side.

At the time of writing, GT are 148 for 1 after 14.1 overs, with Gill batting at 100* off just 49 deliveries. His innings has been laced with 8 sixes and 4 fours.
