India and Australia are engaged in a fierce battle in the second Test of the five match series at the Adelaide Oval. Notably, India batted first after winning the toss but find themselves in a precarious situation at Lunch on Day 1.
Mitchell Starc started the day brilliantly for Australia as he dismissed Yashasvi Jaiswal off the first delivery in the match for a golden duck. However, after this India made a comeback as Shubman Gill and KL Rahul stitched together a partnership of 69 runs. It was looking like that India will go through to lunch with minimal damage.
Gill Dismissed By Boland In The Second Test
Just when KL and Gill were looking settled in the middle, came a spell of play where Australia made a roaring comeback into the game. In a span of 12 runs India lost three wickets and were once again in put under pressure.
One of these wickets was that of Shubman Gill. On the first ball of the 21st over, Scott Boland bowled a fullish delivery at the off and middle stump line that dipped back into the batter. Gill was looking to flick the ball but missed the ball and was wrapped on the pads. There was a big appeal for the leg before and the umpire had no hesitation in raising the finger.
Scott Bolad Claims Shubman Gill As His Bunny
As the Indian opener walked back Scott Boland earned the rights of officially calling Gill his bunny in Test cricket. Here is a look at a face-off record between the two players -
Categories | Numbers |
---|---|
Runs | 10 |
Balls | 28 |
Dismissals | 3 |
Average | 3.33 |
Balls Per Dismissal | 9 |
The stats show us that so far Scott Boland has dismissed Gill three times in Test cricket. The bowler has not yet bowled five overs to him in Test cricket and has been a nightmare for the Indian batter already. He has dismissed for each three runs conceded and nine deliveries bowled. Shubman Gill will be wary of this fact when he comes out to bat the next time against Australia in a Test match.
