Indian captain Shubman Gill was dismissed on 9 off 9 balls in the 2nd ODI against Australia at Adelaide. His back-to-back cheap dismissals left fans disappointed as they lashed out at him on social media.

India batted first on the fresh wicket of Adelaide, with Rohit Sharma walking out to open with Gill. Both had a steady start, but the newly crowned skipper wasted his wicket.

Shubman Gill trolled on social media

In the 7th over, looking to take charge, Shubman Gill advanced down the track to a full delivery from Xavier Bartlett but got too close to the ball and mistimed his shot. 

The ball came off the cue end, looping towards Mitchell Marsh at mid-off, who dived full length to his right to complete a sharp catch, and Gill had to walk back on 9 off 9 balls.

This marks Gill’s second failure, as he was dismissed on 10 runs in the 1st ODI as well. Fans on social media, meanwhile, targeted the new skipper for failing in tough Australian conditions.

That being said, Xavier Bartlett startled India with a double blow. After dismissing Shubman Gill, he also trapped Virat Kohli in an LBW dismissal, sending him back on a 4-ball duck.

At 12 overs, India had 3 runs on the board at the loss of 2 wickets. Notably, Australia are leading the series 1-0 after a comfortable victory at Perth.
