Sediqullah Atal Debuts For Delhi Capitals; Will KL Rahul Open Against Punjab Kings?

Punjab Kings are up against Delhi Capitals in the match 66 of IPL 2025 in Jaipur. DC are out of the playoffs race, but they would be looking to finish off on a high, and have made some interesting changes to their line-up. They have handed debut to Afghanistan's Sediqullah Atal who was brought in as a replacement of Harry Brook late in the season.

KL Rahul Likely To Change His Batting Position Against Punjab Kings

Sediqullah Atal is an opener from Afghanistan and so he is likely to do the same role for DC against Punjab Kings in Jaipur. Thus, it has raised questions over KL Rahul's batting position in this match. KL Rahul and Faf du Plessis have been opening for Delhi Capitals in the last few matches, but in this game, the Indian star might have to bat at number 4 because of presence of Faf du Plessis and Sediqullah Atal.

In this season, KL Rahul has scored runs everywhere he has batted. He played match-winning knocks at number 4, and when he was sent to open, he smashed a century against Gujarat Titans. Thus, it would be a difficult choice to remove him from the top of the order, but to accommodate Atal, KL Rahul might have to change his batting position again.

Karun Nair is also playing this game, so he would bat at number 3, and by bringing in KL Rahul at number 4, DC will get a stable option in the middle order which they missed in the last match.

However, Delhi Capitals might choose to continue opening with KL Rahul, and use Sediqullah Atal at number 3 or number 4. This would help them keep their most experienced batters at the top of the order and Rahul will get the chance to utilise the powerplay.
