Swashbuckling keeper-batter Sanju Samson oozed his class in the Kerala Cricket League, slamming a blistering half-century in Kochi Blue Tigers' ongoing encounter against Trivandrum Royals. Opening the batting for Kochi, Samson hammered 62 runs off just 37 balls, ensuring a fighting total for his side.

Sanju Samson Sustains His Purple Patch As Opener In KCL

After winning the toss, Trivandrum Royals' decision to bowl first backfired on them, with Sanju Samson and Vinoop Manoharan forming a quick-fire 68-run partnership for the first wicket. Although Manoharan was dismissed for 42 runs with the help of nine boundaries, Samson tormented the Royals' bowling attack with his stroke play.

The keeper-batter eventually completed a well-deserved half-century, his third consecutive fifty-plus score in the KCL 2025. He struck four boundaries and five massive sixes during his 37-ball stay, setting the tone for a massive score for the Tigers. Abhijith Praveen V turned out to be his nemesis, dismissing him at a crucial juncture in the game.

Samson Makes India Rethink About Their Asia Cup Strategy

Sanju Samson revitalised his T20I career when India brought him in as Rohit Sharma's replacement as an opener. The Kerala batter slammed three blistering centuries, presenting a strong case for his inclusion in India's Asia Cup XI.

However, the T20I comeback of Shubman Gill jeopardised Samson's chances, with several reports suggesting the Punjab batter as Abhishek Sharma's potential opening partner in the Asia Cup. But Samson's red-hot form in the KCL could force the Indian team management to re-strategise their plan and find a way to create a vacancy for him in their batting lineup.

Samson's fiery fifty and valuable contributions from Nikhil Thottath and Jobin Joby have powered Kochi Blue Tigers to 181 for four in 18.3 overs as of writing.
