Pakistan devoured Bangladesh in a one-sided third T20I match to avoid a 0-3 whitewash. Sahibzada Farhan unfurled the innings of the game with a sparkling half-century, before fast bowler Salman Mirza hogged the limelight with the ball.
Here, we take a look at the entire highlights of the third T20I of the series, as it panned out at the iconic Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur on Thursday, July 24.
Sahibzada Farhan Motors Pakistan To 178
Pakistan batted first and formed 178-7 from 20 overs. Opening batter Sahibzada Farhan was the driving force of the innings for the ‘Men in Green’ through his elegant 41-ball knock of 63 runs. Hasan Nawaz at number four also chipped in with a quick 33, while Mohammad Nawaz smeared 27 runs off 16 balls in the slog overs with two fours and two sixes.
For Bangladesh, left-arm spinner Nasum Ahmed dismissed both Pakistani openers and conceded just 22 off his four overs. Senior paceman Taskin Ahmed picked up three scalps, including two in the final over to claim figures of 3-38.
Bangladesh Kneel Before Salman Mirza, Mohammad Nawaz
Chasing 179, Bangladesh crashed to 25-5 inside the first five overs to reach a sluggish 29-5 at the end of the powerplay. Fast bowler Salman Mirza struck thrice with the new ball, as he removed Tanzid Hasan and Mahedi Hasan both for two-ball ducks to bag sensational figures of 3-19.
Faheem Ashraf dismissed Bangladesh captain Litton Das and seasoned pro Mehidy Hasan Miraz in successive overs to finish with 2-13. Mohammad Saifuddin at number eight launched a few lusty hits with the bat in his 35*, taking Bangladesh past the 100-run mark in the process. Mohammad Nawaz eventually halted Bangladesh’s late resistance with final two wickets as Pakistan won the match by 74 runs to make it 1-2 in the three-match series.
