SA-W vs PAK-W preview [Source: @ProteasWomenCSA, @OfficialSfreak/x.com]
The ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 action continues with South Africa Women (SA-W) locking horns with Pakistan Women (PAK-W) in Match 22 on Tuesday, October 21 at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. The match will begin at 3:00 PM IST with South Africa already through to the semi-finals while Pakistan fight to stay alive in the tournament.
South Africa Women
South Africa Women have been in imperious form, winning four out of their five matches so far. After a huge loss in the opening game, the Proteas have bounced back strongly with four consecutive victories to seal a semi-final spot. In their last game against Sri Lanka Women, they dominated in every department: first restricting the hosts to 105/7 in a rain-shortened 20-over contest and then chasing the target without losing a wicket.
Nonkululeko Mlaba was outstanding with the ball, taking 3 wickets while Masabata Klaas claimed 2 scalps to keep Sri Lanka in check. With the bat, captain Laura Wolvaardt (60* off 47 balls) and Tazmin Brits (55* off 42 balls) led a clinical chase, sealing a 10-wicket win. With qualification already secured, South Africa may look to rotate key players and fine-tune their combinations ahead of the knockouts.
Pakistan Women
On the other hand, Pakistan Women have struggled for form and confidence, sitting at the bottom of the table with three losses and two no results in five matches. Their previous encounter against New Zealand Women was washed out, but not before they managed 92/5 in 25 overs. Muneeba Ali scored 22 runs while Aliya Riaz remained unbeaten on 28, though others like Sidra Amin, Omaima Sohail and Natalia Pervaiz failed to get going.
Captain Fatima Sana has been leading the side with discipline but Pakistan need a collective team effort to overcome a confident South African unit. Their batting depth remains a concern and the bowling attack must find consistency to stand a chance against one of the best-balanced sides in the competition.

R. Premadasa Stadium pitch report
The R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo offers an excellent balance between bat and ball. Early on, pacers can extract seam movement and bounce while as the match wears on, the spinners take control of the proceedings. Out of 28 Women’s ODIs played here, 15 have been won by teams batting first, 10 by chasing sides while 3 ended without a result. Expect captains to prefer batting first and letting their spinners exploit the conditions in the second innings.
