SA vs WI, 2nd Test: Preview, Prediction, Live Score, Fantasy Tips
South Africa won the first Test [AP Photos]
South Africa were ruthless and professional in decimating West Indies in the first Test of the series. It was a bowling paradise and the bowlers from both the teams utilised the conditions to perfection.
It won't be an understatement to say that West Indies underperformed with the bat in hand, and that is where they lost the plot against the Proteas. A better performance is expected from the visitors when the two teams collide at the Wanderers, Johannesburg.
Team Preview
South Africa
While the batting still looked vulnerable despite a valiant century from Aiden Markram, the bowling unit fired all cylinders and was led by two of the most fearsome bowlers in Test cricket - Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje.
The middle order collapse that took place in the first Test is a cause of worry for the team management and they'll be looking to rectify it ahead of the Joburg Test. The form of Temba Bavuma is a cause of worry, considering the fact that he was dismissed for ducks in both the innings.
But the biggest positive has to be the way Proteas bowling attack delivered in the second innings. Nortje took a fifer in the first innings, and Rabada complimented his partner, with a match-winning six-wicket haul in the West Indies chase.
However, the home team have been dealt a major blow, with Nortje ruled out of the final Test due to an injury, Wiaan Mulder has been given the opportunity to play.
If the batting cane come to life, things will get easy for the home side.
West Indies
For the Windies, the first Test can be summed up by saying that the bowlers delivered on all fronts, but the batters failed to offer resistance against a quality South African attack.
In both the innings, West Indies were shaken by the fearsome Proteas attack, and that can play a major part once again in Joburg.
However, there were positives for them too. Jermaine Blackwood stood like a wall in the second innings, and absorbed the pressure to perfection. Alzarri Joseph picked up a 5-wicket haul in South Africa's first innings and will be the key bowler once again for the visitors. They played well in bits and pieces, but to win a Test match, you need consistency, and that was missing from them.
