Rajasthan Royals' IPL 2025 captain Sanju Samson had a poor outing with the bat, as experienced fast bowler Shardul Thakur dismissed him for a low score in the high-voltage match between Kerala and Mumbai in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. After Mumbai captain Shreyas Iyer won the toss and opted to bowl first, Thakur provided them with a dream start, castling Samson for four runs.

The incident occurred in the very first over of Kerala's innings after Mumbai invited them to bat first. Sanju Samson got off the mark in style with a boundary; however, Thakur concluded his brief stay, cleaning him up with a beauty. Thus, Samson, who hammered a blistering ton in the final T20I against South Africa, recorded his second consecutive low score in the tournament.

The swashbuckling keeper-batter had a terrific start to the competition, hammering a magnificent fifty against Services. However, he failed to sustain his purple patch, being dismissed cheaply in the subsequent encounters against Maharashtra and Mumbai

Kerala Post A Daunting Total Against Mumbai In Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy

Although Samson couldn't live up to the expectations, his opening partner Rohan Kunnummal smashed five fours and seven maximums for his breathtaking 48-ball 87. Apart from the opener, Salman Nizar was Kerala's wrecker-in-chief with the bat, ensuring a mammoth total for the side with a glorious unbeaten knock of 99 runs. As a result, Kerala posted a huge 234-run total against Mumbai, who were 21 for none in two overs at the time of writing.
