Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper Faf du Plessis was a relieved man at the post-match presentation after his team steamrolled hosts Rajasthan Royals by 112 runs to keep their playoff hopes alive.

On a very slow pitch in Jaipur, the RCB bowlers proved to be too hot to handle for the Royals' batting unit as they kept picking wickets at regular intervals.

Once again, it was Mohammed Siraj who provided RCB with the crucial wicket in the form of Yashasvi Jaiswal in the first over of the innings. Wayne Parnell then landed a killer blow by removing both Jos Buttler and Sanju Samson in the next over.

Once the top-three were gone, it was always going to be tough for the Royals against RCB's spinners, and Michael Bracewell, Karn Sharma and Glenn Maxwell did the rest to bundle them out for 59.

That RCB were able to post 171 on such a surface was thanks to the final overs flourish from Anuj Rawat, who ensured that Glenn Maxwell's brilliant half-century didn't go in vain as he smashed an unbeaten 11-ball 29 to give his team a much-needed momentum.

Faf was full of praise for Rawat and his bowling attack, and he also admitted that this win had injected a fresh ray of confidence in his team.

Here's what Faf du Plessis said:

"Really good for NRR. I think it was a really difficult pitch. Even early on in the powerplay, the ball was keeping very low. So, we thought 160 would be a good total. It's really important in T20 cricket to try and capitalize on the momentum shifts. It was remarkable other guys enjoyed and got wickets," Du Plessis said in the post match interview.

"(Michael) Bracewell would want to bowl on this every day of the week. We needed a left-arm spinner and Shahbaz (Ahmed) could have also been a good option. It's a nice thing when you have a finger spinner on this surface. The next game (versus Hyderabad) is a big game for us. We needed some confidence and today was a good day for the team. Everyone would be extremely motivated for the last two games"

Thanks to this comprehensive win, RCB have brought their NRR into positive. They will now face the Sunrisers Hyderabad in another virtual knockout game on May 18th.
