'Rectify That And...,' Sanjay Bangar Predicts a Turnaround Ahead of RR vs RCB

Ahead of Royal Challengers Bangalore's major Net Run Rate boosting win, head coach Sanjay Bangar spoke about team shortcomings in the Indian Premier League (IPL 2023). He pinpointed lack of batting depth and inconsistent bowling as the reason behind their disappointing performance in the ongoing season.

Apart from the trio of Virat Kohli, skipper Faf du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell, RCB's batting has proved to be non-existent this season, with the likes of Dinesh Karthik and other local batters failing to rise to the occasion.

As a result, the 2016 finalists have been unable to get a final flourish, and their inconsistent bowling attack has made things even worse.

"Well, we were certainly lacking in certain areas. We are falling 10-15 runs short with the bat and falling short due to lack of depth and explosive hitters and we have addressed that. Coming to today, we are looking to rectify that and score more," Bangar said ahead of RR vs RCB.

"Even with the ball as well. In the first half of the tournament we were defending well and scores of 170-180 were defended. The bowling team has also gone down as we have failed to defend big totals like before. So, these are the two areas death batting and bowling as a whole is where we are looking to improve," he added.

That said, RCB got a much-needed win at Jaipur, thrashing the Royals by 112 runs and jumping to the fifth position with a NRR of 0.166, thanks to the bowling department led by Wayne Parnell & Mohammed Siraj, and major contributions from Maxwell & Anuj Rawat.
