Ahead of the clash against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in Chennai, MS Dhoni sounded like a hard task master as he criticised Chennai Super Kings (CSK)'s fielding in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL 2023). Sitting at the second spot on the points table with just two games to go, the CSK batters and bowlers have clinical at the office, but the fielding has fallen 5 to 10 per cent short, as per the CSK skipper.

While talking to former Indian cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar at the toss, Dhoni said he has asked his men to play in the season. He stated that the openers were commanded to assess the conditions as soon as possible, so the team management could think of what target they should give the opposition.

"Throughout the year we told the openers, just access the surface as quickly as possible and think of the target. Once the ball loses its shine. It's important to keep resisting what's the good total and play your shots according to that," Dhoni stated at the toss before CSK vs KKR.

Further, the former India captain spoke about how he needs his IPL team to brush up on their fielding skills before the business phase of IPL 2023 starts.

"We have done pretty well, but the one area we need to brush up on is fielding. We have good fielders but we need to field well, we need to improve a 5 or 10 per cent in the field."

For their 13th game of the season, Chennai have gone with an unchanged team in a game that will help them qualify for the playoff, while the Knight Riders have replaced Anukul Roy with Vaibhav Arora in the must-win game.
