The second ODI of the ongoing three-match series between Bangladesh and Ireland ended in a no-result due to unabating rain after the first innings.

Moments prior to the start of the second essay of the game, rain announced its arrival and it never went away as play could not be made possible thereafter.

For Bangladesh, they would have mixed emotions within the camp from this result as from hereon they cannot lose the series as they have already won the last fixture.

However, Tamim Iqbal and Co. were more likely to even emerge victorious in the rain-affected clash as the batters had put up an above-par total of 349 runs on the scoreboard.

The Tigers recorded their highest-ever ODI total, courtesy a 60-ball hundred from Mushfiqur Rahim, also the fastest century for any Bangladeshi batter in the format.

Earlier in the innings, Litton Das and Najmul Hossain Shanto fell in their 70s. Towhid Hridoy also led a blitz, smacking 49 runs off just 34 deliveries.

For Ireland, Graham Hume claimed three scalps.

With Bangladesh leading the series 1-0, the third ODI of the series will be played on March 23 at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium.
