Punjab Kings: 167/7 in 20 overs [Prabhsimran Singh 103 (65), Sam Curran 20 (24); Ishant Sharma 2/27 (3), Axar Patel 1/27 (4)] beat Delhi Capitals: 136/8 in 20 overs [David Warner 54 (27), Philip Salt 21 (17)]; Harpreet Brar 4/30 (4), Rahul Chahar 2/16 (4)] by 31 runs.

Prabhsimran Singh's Scintillating Century take Punjab To A Challenging Total

DC decided to bowl first after winning the toss and showed good discipline with the ball as they reduced Punjab to 45-3. However, Prabhsimran Singh showed lot of character and application with the bat and kept scoring runs briskly from the other end. Sam Curran who batted at number 5, struggled to get going but held one end up. He scored 20 runs but did well to support Prabhsimran Singh who changed his gears smoothly as the innings progressed.

The young Punjab batter eventually got to his century and by the time, he got out on 103 in the 19th over, Punjab already had over 150 on the board. They ended with 167 and that was always going to be a challenging total for DC on a tricky pitch. Ishant picked two wickets for DC but they could have done better as a group.

Brar-Chahar Duo Stage Big Delhi Collapse

Delhi got off to a superb start with the bat as Phil Salt and David Warner came out all guns blazing. DC scored 65 runs in the Powerplay but Harpreet Brar and Rahul Chahar bowled brilliantly in the middle overs to stage a big DC collapse. Brar got the big wicket of Salt just after the Powerplay and from 69-0, DC were reduced to 88-6 as Brar picked four wickets and Rahul Chahar took two important wickets as well.

DC just could not recover from those blows and they could muster just 136 runs in 20 overs as they lost 8 wickets with Ellis finishing off things with two wickets. This win takes Punjab to the 6th position on the points table and they have kept their hopes well and truly alive with this big win.
